Downtown group offering weekend tours of Wichita businesses, landmarks

By Bryan Horwath

Jason Van Sickle is taking his new Downtown Neighborhood Association on the road — sort of.

Van Sickle reports that he's starting a DNA "Discover Downtown Wichita" series where members (and anyone else who wants to go) visit different downtown businesses and places of interest.

Following are the first few scheduled events for the series:

April 22 (2:30 p.m.): Aero Plains Brewing.
April 28 (3 p.m.) and April 29 (4 p.m.): Reverie Coffee Roasters.
May 5 (10 a.m.): Museum of World Treasures (includes free guided tour).
May 12 (2 p.m.) and May 13 (2 p.m.): Walking tour of Old Town.

Van Sickle says those interested in becoming members of the association are encouraged to join its Meetup group.

According to its webpage, the Meetup group had 66 members as of Monday. Membership in the group is free, Van Sickle says.

"We hope to have Discover Downtown Wichita events every weekend all year," Van Sickle says. "If you think about how many businesses there are downtown alone, we don't think that will be an issue."
