Jason grew up in Wichita and attended one of the city's first magnet schools (Isely). He was also one of the first students in the International Baccalaureate program at Wichita High School East, where he completed high school in 2 1/2 years. He became a single parent while in college, so his focus turned to raising his kids.
Over a 10 year period Jason worked, focused on his family, and went to school part-time. He eventually completed a BGS from Wichita State University, with a major in Philosophy and minor in Mathematics. Since then he has earned a Master's in Sociology (from WSU), and completed professional coursework through Cornell and NYU.
From the earliest days of his career, Jason has been involved with nonprofit and community organizations. Over the years he has served on the Boards of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of South Central Kansas, the Wichita Children’s Home, the Wichita Area YMCA, and the Wichita Downtown Development Corporation. Most recently, Jason founded the nonprofit COMCARE Community Partners in partnership with the Sedgwick County Commission. He has also lead Old Town as the President of the Old Town Association, and continues to work with the City of Wichita as a community leader on various downtown issues.
